For many, being healthy means cutting out foods that you love and enduring exercise that you don't really enjoy. It's hard to stay committed when that's the philosophy.
For me, being healthy means I can do the things I love.
I want to travel, be active with family and friends, and confident to try new things. All of that requires cooperation from my mind and body. That is what motivates me to choose healthier food options (more often), and to exercise 3-5 times per week.
Therefore, my diet and fitness goals are focused on optimizing my energy levels (strength & endurance), maintaining pain-free mobility as I age, and simply feeling good about my body.
